Liz Bannish

Massachusetts native, pursuing training in professional printing since 2009. Liz’s personal prints have been shown on a national scale from Los Angeles to New York, notably in exhibitions such as IPCNY’S New Prints: Summer 2014, the 2017 Wheaton Biennial, and the 2017 Boston Printmakers Biennial. She is the Printmaking and Photo Technician for Smith College in Northampton, MA, and has been training as an apprentice with Wingate Studio in Hinsdale, NH since June 2018.

  • Visual Arts Technical Specialist, Smith College: duties in print shop, darkroom, digital lab, and typography maintenance and coordination. Includes assisting and instructing students in the aforementioned facilities, monitoring and training student workers in printmaking and photo labs, and ensuring department conformity with safety protocols and hazardous waste disposal alongside the College’s Safety and Compliance Director.
  • Printmaking skills: Lithography (stone, plate, photo-lithography, offset lithography), Intaglio (drypoint, etching, photo-intaglio, and photopolymer), Relief (wood/linocut, engraving, reduction printing), Monotype
  • Photography skills: Traditional (35 mm and large format), alternative (cyanotype, tintype, salted paper prints) and digital photography. Darkroom and enlarger set up, maintenance, repair, and chemical handling/disposal according to EPA protocols. Adobe Creative Suite: Bridge, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Over eight years of print shop service, both in traditional and solvent-free environments. Knowledge in the repair and maintenance of offset, lithography, typography, and intaglio presses.
  • Other skills: Vandercook press maintenance and repair, wood shop experience.

  • Conference presenter of Iron-On Photo Intaglio: Multiple Tones in One Etch at the Southern Graphics Conference on Printmaking in San Francisco, 2014
  • A presentation on creating photo-intaglio prints with circuit board film, a process devised while an intern at Zea Mays Printmaking. Invited by SGC to present the technique on-site in a full day workshop.
